Intentional, expert-led reading instruction designed to build fluency, comprehension, and academic confidence in a focused small-group environment.
10 hour class: M-F 10am-12pm
High school reading demands increase significantly as students progress through their coursework. Students are expected to read independently, interpret complex texts across subjects, and analyze information with greater depth and precision.
StudySesh Strategic Reading & Literacy supports students entering high school as well as those entering grade 10 who want to strengthen comprehension, expand vocabulary, and refine analytical thinking. Through a close reading analysis program, this course teaches students how to approach reading strategically and develop the skills required for success in rigorous high school classes and future SAT and ACT preparation.
Students build lasting literacy skills that support performance across English, history, science, and standardized testing.

Students will read a complete passage independently and answer the questions, then will discuss the different close reading strategies they used and how the strategies helped them to build meaning in text.

The reading lab is taught by Stacy Malin. Stacy is a former Hillsborough County English teacher; she holds master’s degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and in Educational Leadership. Stacy has over 10 years of classroom ELA experience and extensive training in curriculum development. She has taught English. Stacy enjoys helping students develop reading and analytical skills.

Summer Reading Lab is a one-week commitment from M-F for two hours each day.

Summer reading lab is an investment in your child’s literacy development that fosters growth in ELA, test prep, and other related subjects. Cancellations and Refunds
If you are needing to cancel, you may cancel with a full refund up to one week before the class. After that, you will have full payment returned, minus a $50 cancellation fee.Absences
Students will be provided with the projected learning material ahead of time and can read the articles on their own if they wish. There are no refunds for missed days.Guardianship
StudySesh is responsible for the participants during the class hours, but not before and after. Please arrange for your child to have adequate transportation and to be picked up on time.
